After School Connection Club see also Winter Enrichment Program This year the children get academic support in both reading and math; as well as homework support. The program has been redesigned to run much like a classroom with “centers.” The centers include small group technology, math games, reading games, reading groups, homework support, art projects and whole baking activities and art projects. You can sign your children up throughout the year. Ms.
Tasha Bradley, a certified teacher, is the K-3 teacher. Ms. Bradley is currently a para-educator at
Hyde Park Elementary. She worked as the
homework club teacher last year and this year has decided to take over the
teacher position for the K-2 program. Ms.
Lisa Vinick runs the 4-6 Homework
Club. Ms. Vinick is a para-educator at
Hyde Park Elementary as well. This year
Homework Club will run for two hours! Ms. Vinick will have a High School Tutor
to help her out in the club. Five
tutors will be returning for another year.
The tutors are: Tyler Costello,
Kylie Pratt, Chelsea Friedrich, Miranda Wescom, Mysha Dompierre, and Jasmine
Penberthy. The children really enjoy the
high school tutors. This year the
tutors receive on-going training in the areas of reading and math. Each
Club runs Monday – Thursday, 3:00-5:00 and this is a free club. The children receive a healthy snack and
a short recess before starting work. The
children are then assigned to their designated area. The K-2 program is held in the library
on Tuesday – Thursday, Monday is held in the Gym (due to the library being
used). Each afternoon begins with a whole group afternoon meeting and read aloud. During Enrichment Programs, the children who attend
the Connection Club groups can also sign up for Enrichment Programs. The Enrichment Programs have a small fee
attached to them and run 8 weeks for three semesters. Any questions, call Jean Pratt at 888-2237, ext. 228. |
